The Story Behind selvaniqor
We started with a simple observation — most brilliant startup ideas never get the funding they deserve. Not because they lack potential, but because founders weren't taught how to speak the language investors understand.
How We Found Our Purpose
Back in 2018, I was watching incredibly talented entrepreneurs struggle with fundraising. They had game-changing ideas but kept hitting walls with investors. The problem wasn't their vision — it was how they presented it.
Traditional business courses teach theory. Accelerators rush through basics. But nobody was teaching the real skills founders need: how to craft compelling narratives, build investor relationships, and navigate the actual fundraising process.
So we created something different — practical education that bridges the gap between brilliant ideas and successful funding rounds.
Our Teaching Philosophy
We believe fundraising success comes from understanding both the technical skills and the human psychology behind investment decisions.
Real-World Applications
Every lesson connects to actual fundraising scenarios you'll face. We use case studies from successful Australian startups and real investor feedback.
Investor Perspective
Learn what investors actually look for — not just what textbooks say. Our curriculum is shaped by conversations with active VCs and angel investors.
Practical Skills Focus
Less theory, more practice. You'll build actual pitch decks, practice investor conversations, and develop real fundraising strategies.
Helena Westbrook
Founding Director
Former venture capital analyst with experience across 40+ funding rounds. Previously worked with Melbourne-based early-stage funds.
Led by Experience, Not Theory
Helena spent five years on the investor side before founding selvaniqor. She's seen hundreds of pitches, sat through countless due diligence sessions, and watched great companies get funded — and promising ones get rejected.
That experience shapes everything we teach. When we explain what investors want to see in financial projections, Helena's actually reviewed those projections. When we discuss common pitch mistakes, she's witnessed them firsthand.
Core Teaching Areas
Our next comprehensive program launches in September 2025, giving you six months to develop the skills that separate funded startups from the rest.
